Kiana

May 16, 2000 - March 30, 2025

Our beautiful daughter Kiana was born in Honolulu on May 16, 2000. She is the youngest of our three children and the only girl. From the day she was born she brought so much love, laughter and light into our lives. God definitely created her extra special.  Kiana had a very active life. She worked hard, danced hula, was a cheerleader, paddled canoe, played soccer and volleyball, traveled and loved the ocean, sunsets and spending time with family! She was always down to try just about anything. She loved life and had the most beautiful soul that radiated positivity!

In October of 2020 Kiana was diagnosed with a low grade Glioma (a type of brain tumor) at the age of 20. Kiana had an Awake Craniotomy done at the time, in California, to remove the tumor and was monitored for four years to make sure the tumor would not grow back.

In October of 2024, after noticing Kiana struggling with mobility on the left side of her body, she was taken to see her doctor who then sent her to the ER where they discovered she had another tumor growing on the frontal lobe of her brain. This tumor was 4.7cm and located in the same area as her first tumor from 2020. She had a biopsy done in Honolulu and the results had revealed a Grade 2 Supratentorial Ependymoma (a rare, aggressive primary glial tumor arising from ependymal cells).   This was devastating news to our family and we knew we had a fight ahead of us. This tumor was very aggressive and was affecting her in worse ways than the first tumor ever had. She had focal seizures, intense anxiety attacks and had lost her mobility and strength on the left side of her body. Her ability to move around put a lot of stress on the rest of her body which increased her headaches and caused exhaustion throughout the day. She was unable to work, drive or travel anywhere without assistance of a wheelchair, cane or another person for support.

Kiana, her fiancé Tua, and I (her mother) had traveled to Texas to start her on her treatments. Her treatments were going well until one day, in late March, she fell ill and became jaundice. After taking her to the ER, the hospital decided to medivac her to O’ahu to be treated. Unfortunately, Kiana passed away on March 30, 2025. She was surrounded by her family and held by her parents when she was healed and embraced by God’s eternal love!

Kiana was an entrepreneur and a go getter! She was a huge part of why we started this business. She always pushed us to go for it and she was excited to be a part of it! One thing she always asked for was some pink toilets, as that is her favorite color!  Although she is not here physically, we know she is with us in spirit and proud that we did not give up on the dream we all started together. Our Kiana had a giving heart. Always donating when she could, lending a helping hand, showing kindness everywhere she went and radiating positivity in the world.

Our Pink toilets have a purpose…to Honor our beautiful daughter Kiana and to help support others in their battle with cancer.
